Creating Immersive Experiences

OrchestrateVR makes creating immersive experiences EASY. You don't need to know any coding languages or own any complex computing tools to start creating experiences today.

Experience Editor

The Experience Editor provides all the tools you need to create, edit, and publish immersive experiences.

To access the Experience Editor, go to http://orchestrate.accessvr.com/ and login with your username and password.

Launch Experience Editor

To launch the Experience Editor, select Create an Experience from the Home screen

Layout

The Experience Editor is laid out in 4 panels.

Scenes Panel

The Left Panel contains all of the Scenes within your Experience.

Stage Panel

The center top panel presents a WYSIWYG view of your Experience.

Keyframes Panel

The center bottom panel displays the Layers in your Experience and their related Keyframes that identify the type of layer and its position in time.

Properties Panel

The right panel displays Properties for the selected Scene or Layer. The Properties Panel is where you add your content, set your Actions and define when and how your content is displayed.

Saving Experiences

Once an Experience has been created, all edits and content added to the Experience is saved automatically, as changes are made. There is no need to manually save your work.

Adding Scenes

Scenes contain the Assets, Layers and Actions that make up your experiences. You can build an experience within a single Scene or create dynamic experiences by branching between multiple Scenes.

To Add a Scene

  1. Select ADD SCENE, in the Scene panel of the Experience Editor, to add a new Scene
  2. Select a 360 image or 360 video as the skybox for your Scene
  3. Pan the 360 Asset to the desired view
  4. Select SAVE INITIAL VIEW to save the initial view

Scene Properties

Scene Properties set the preferences of your scene. You can change the following properties per scene.

  • Set Scene as the INITIAL SCENE, so it is the first scene presented in the Experience
  • Change the Asset used for the skybox
  • Name your Scene for easier organization
  • Set START and END times of your Scene Asset, for quick and simple Asset editing
  • Set your END SCENE ACTION, to determine what happens when the Scene ends
  • Change the INITIAL VIEW of the Scene Asset
  • DELETE Scene

Adding Layers

Layers are used to add engagement to your experiences. Add custom content to address learning objectives, encourage exploration, ask questions and evaluate Learner progress.

To Add a Layer

  1. Select ADD LAYER from the Keyframe Panel
  2. Select the Layer Type from the popup menu
  3. Edit the Layer Properties in the Properties Panel

Layer Types

There are 4 different Layer types that can be added to your experiences. Each Layer type serves different purposes for engagement and immersion, and has unique properties.

Text Layer

Text Layers allow for copy that can be used to provide information in the form of guidance, context or instruction. Text Layers include a Title and Description. Text Layers do not pause the playback of the Scene by default. If you choose to Pause Scene Playback, a Button will be made available for the Learner to engage with and continue the Experience.

Question Layer

Question Layers provide the ability to ask Learners questions during the Experiences. Question Layers include Question Text and Type (Single Choice or Multiple Choice). Answers to Questions can be edited with custom copy, additional answers can be added, and answers can trigger Actions when selected by the Learner, to reinforce comprehension. Question Layers pause the playback of the Scene by default. Scene playback will resume, once the Learner has submitted their answers to the Questions.

Media Layer

Media Layers provide the ability to add images, video and audio clips to your Experiences. Media Layers include a Media Asset (Image, Audio, Video), Title and Description. Media Layers do not pause the playback of the Scene by default. If you choose to Pause Scene Playback, a Button will be made available for the Learner to engage with and continue the Experience, once the media has been viewed.

Supported Media Formats

  • Images - JPG, PNG
  • Audio - WAV, MP3, MP4, MPEG
  • 2D Video - MP4, MPEG, MOV

Hotspots Layer

Hotspots Layers allow for adding multiple Hotspots to your Experience. Hotspots are a great way to give Learners self-directed exploration. Hotspots can be positioned 360 degrees within your Scene.

Working With Keyframes

Keyframes are used to manage the timing of your Layers, within the Scene(s) of your Experience. Keyframes automatically appear at the time signature of the Scene when a new Layer is added to the Scene.

Adjusting Keyframes

There are 2 ways to adjust when your keyframes appear and their duration, if Scene Playback is not Paused. You can make adjustments to timing from the Layer Properties Panel, or you can simply DRAG Layer Keyframes in the Keyframe Panel.

Properties Panel Time Adjustments

  1. Select the Layer you would like to adjust the timing for, from the Keyframe Panel
  2. Set the START TIME to the desired timecode, in the Properties Panel
  3. Set the DURATION to the desired timeframe, in the Properties Panel
  4. The Keyframes for this layer will position themselves to reflect the desired changes

Keyframe Panel Time Adjustments

  1. Place your cursor over the Start Keyframe you would like to adjust in the Keyframe Panel
  2. HOLD and DRAG the Start Keyframe to the desired start time
  3. Place your cursor over the Duration Keyframe you would like to adjust in the Keyframe Panel
  4. HOLD and DRAG the Duration Keyframe to the desired duration

Organizing Keyframes

PRO TIP: To keep your workflow manageable, you can DRAG and DROP the Layers in the Keyframe Panel to change their order.

Preview Your Experience

Previewing allows you to experience what your Learner will experience, before Publishing. Preview only works in the Web Player, but it provides Authors with the ability to scrub through the Experience to evaluate specific moments within their Experience.

To Preview your Experience

  1. Select PREVIEW from the top of the Experience Editor window
  2. Your experience will open in a new browser tab
  3. Select LAUNCH EXPERIENCE from the Preview screen
  4. Use the Playback controls at the bottom of the screen to PAUSE, PLAY or "JUMP" to specific moments within your Experience

Publish Your Experience

Publishing your Experience makes it accessible by Learners and other Users. If your organization has been set up with All Experiences Module enabled, your Published Experience is immediately available to everyone within your organization. If not, Org Admins and Training Directors can Assign Published Experiences to Users and Groups of Users, directly or as part of a Module.

To Publish your Experience

  1. Select PUBLISH from the top of the Experience Editor Window
  2. OrchestrateVR automatically evaluates your Experience for any potential issues and provides corrective guidance to ensure your Experiences are free of any conflicts that would break immersion
  3. If any issues are found, follow the prompts and republish your Experience
  4. Once your Experience has been Published it is now available to be played on Web and VR Devices!
